Rumble Fish: Blu-ray Vs. A&E TV Version

When aired on TV on the A&E network, an alternate version would be used. A deleted scene would be reinserted into the film to make up for the run time as some footage was cut as well as swearing. Some footage was also altered that was more suitable for television. This deleted scene appears in the Blu-ray, titled “Hey Steve, is your mother dying?”,  as well as in the novel. However, the deleted scene is much longer in the Blu-ray. The quality of the tape is also quite degraded.

The A&E TV version contains an alternate shot of Benny, with the A&E TV version having Benny organize the counter and the Blu-ray having Benny give Rusty the middle finger.

The A&E TV version contains a deleted scene with Coach Ryan asking Rusty to beat up Don Price for five dollars. Rusty declines, as he shows his injuries. Coach Ryan tells him to got a nurse but Rusty declines and walks out of the gym.

The A&E TV version shortens a scene with Rusty, The Motorcycle Boy and their father play fighting in the bed.

Blu-ray:

The A&E TV version contains some alternate shots of the group sex scene and also shortens some of the shots.

The A&E TV version shortens the scene with Patty arguing with Rusty  by shortening a shot of Patty giving Rusty the middle finger.
