For American distributors, an alternate ending was added after the credits in July 25th, 2003. They decided to do this after audiences had contemplated which ending was better. This ending was included in the DVDs and Blu-rays under the title “Hospital Dream”. However in “Hospital Dream”, there is additional footage of Jim’s life before the apocalypse that is not contained in the Sky Movies TV version. This same version would air on Sky Movies. This version however has not appeared officially on releases.

The Sky Movies TV version contains an alternate ending where Jim is rushed to a hospital by Selena and Hannah after being shot by Major West. There, they frantically search for medical supplies. Selena then injects adrenaline into Jim and begins to resuscitate him. However, after a minute, he is unable to wake up and dies. Hannah asks what to do next, and Selena tells her to move. They leave the hospital as the door closes.
