Bustin’ Loose: DVD Vs. NBC TV Version

For it’s NBC Movie of the Week in 1984, an extended version was aired to fit the two hour time slot. This version contained a few deleted scenes as well as some alternate shots that have never been officially released before. This version also censored language and some obscene references. This version also suffers from flickering and quality degradation.

The NBC TV version contains a deleted scene. In it, the guard dog gives the security guard the candy bar that Joe had given him. Joe is seen trying to transport a stack of boxes before the guard dog catches him. The guard dog begins to bark while Joe tries to calm the guard dog down.

NBC TV Version:

The NBC TV version shortens the scene of Joe and Marvin arguing over whether the homeless person urinating near them is an undercover police officer.

The NBC TV version contains an extended scene. Donald asks Vivian what about the future of their relationship. Vivian tells him that there will be no relationship if he is not willing to help her.

The NBC TV version contains a deleted scene. Joe is seen driving the bus to the school to pick up Vivian and the kids. Joe gets out and meets Vivian. He tells her the bus is all working. Vivian asks Joe to put the children’s belongings onto the bus. He objects, telling her that the bus is not working well. Vivian tells him that also should’ve cleaned himself up more before walking back into the building. Joe begins to sulk around and tells her that he’s not a bellman. He then starts to throw some of the children’s belongings on the roof of the bus. The DVD has an alternate shot of the bus pulling up to the school.
