This is a workprint that leaked back a couple of months before it’s official video release. The workprint contained a couple of deleted and extended scenes, some of which was cut because the content would be considered too dark for a kids movie. None of the deleted scenes have been officially released on DVD or Blu-ray. Some of the deleted scenes are however, mentioned in the novelization of the movie. Majority of the movie is incomplete in animation, with many of the scenes being shown as pencil sketches and storyboards. The video and audio quality is mediocre, but not as bad given the age of the original VHS source.

The workprint contains two deleted scenes. Rafiki is seen painting Kiara in his tree. After he is finished painting, a gust of wind comes by, causing the paintings to be messed up. He begins to scold to Mufasa for ruining the painting, saying that he had broken the circle. Rafiki then suddenly realizes that the gust of wind is a sign of trouble in the Pride Lands, where he deduces that there is another cub in the Outlands. The Outlands is a wasteland that was used by Simba to banish Scar’s supporters. Then, Kovu is seen catching a dragonfly. He observes it before he releases it. Zira catches the bug and kills it. She then begins to scold him for not killing the dragonfly. Kovu tries to argue back that the bug is not hurting anyone. Zira tells Kovu that there is no room for weakness and reminds him that Scar had accepted him as his own son. Kovu tells her that Scar isn’t his father, but she tells him that he was the chosen one. She notes that if Kovu becomes king, the outcasted lions will no longer have to live in the Outlands. Then, Nuka and Vitani are seen running to tell Zira about Simba’s new cub. She asks Vitani what she had seen. She reveals that Simba’s new cub is a girl. Zira begins to laugh and talk to Scar. Nuka asks Vitani who she’s talking to, and she says Zira is talking to Scar. Nuka excitedly looks around and asks where Scar is. Vitani reminds Nuka that Scar is dead, and Zira angrily responds that it is due to Simba. Nuka suggests the idea that he could be Scar’s successor since he is the oldest. Zira tells him he is foolish and that they should follow through with Scar’s wishes of having Kovu be his successor. Then, Zira leads her cubs to view the Pride Lands and tells them that is where they belong.
