
This is a rough workprint version made back in August 25th, 1997. Titled as “The Road to Graceland”, this workprint contains several deleted scenes and has a lot of alternate and extended footage. Two of the deleted scenes DVD as bonus features, but even those scenes are slightly different compared to this workprint. There is also a completely different soundtrack. The video quality is notably more darker and discolored.

Elvis tells him that he was just walking by and found his car like that. He then tells him that he had also repaired Cadillacs several times before. Byron warns him not to mess up the Cadillac or else he will hurt him. Elvis brags that he has owned several Cadillacs before and that he would give them out. He then walks towards the car and begins to observe the damages. This causes Byron to get up from napping and immediately ask Elvis what he is doing. Elvis tells him that he’s repairing the Cadillac and that he learned a trick from his friend Jerry Lee. Byron asks who Jerry Lee is, and Elvis clarifies that it is Jerry Lee Lewis. He is able to get the engine back running and gets into the Cadillac. Byron questions him on why he’s going into his car. Elvis tells him that leaving a person who just repaired his car stranded on the road is not a good way to repay someone’s debt. Byron tells him he’s grateful for what he did and but he tells him that he does not want to ride with him. Elvis asks if it is because Byron is some kind of daredevil. He says no and tells him he’s just not good company. Elvis tells him that is not a problem and was able to entertain Evel during car rides. Byron then states that he will not be responsible for what happens to Elvis during the ride. Elvis agrees. Before driving away, Byron asks who Evel is. Elvis says that he is talking about Evel Knievel. The DVD has an alternate shot of Byron reluctantly looking at Elvis before agreeing to give him a ride.

Immediately, Byron unlocks the door and then checks for a pulse. Realizing that Elvis is still alive, he drags him back into the room and puts him on the bed. The DVD has a shot of Byron looking defeated after Elvis asks to stay.
